Tearfund produces a number of different publications each year which aim to share knowledge and experience with our partner organisations and others interested in development issues around the world. The publications are all available free of charge on our website (www.tearfund.org/tilz ). You can also search for specific topics.
Footsteps is a quarterly newsletter for health and development workers. It aims to share information, ideas, contacts and experience in a Christian context at grassroots level. Footsteps encourages a holistic approach to development and seeks to build up local capacity.
Each issue concentrates on a different topic. Recent issues have included topics such reconciliation, sexual health, urban renewal, facilitation skills, water and the impact of HIV on children. Nearly 70 issues have now been produced.
If you would like to be added to the Footsteps mailing list, e-mail footsteps@tearfund.org or write to Footsteps mailing list, PO Box 200, Bridgnorth, WV16 4WQ, UK. Please provide your postal address and brief details of your work, and state your preferred language (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Bangla, Hindi or Chinese).
PILLARS Guides provide practical, discussion-based learning on community development. The Guides are designed for use in small community groups such as youth groups, church groups, women’s groups, farmer groups and literacy groups. A trained leader is not required; just one literate person. The Guides aim to increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of group members by drawing out and building on existing knowledge and experience, and empowering members to take charge of their own development. There are between 20 to 24 topics in the Guides. Each topic has a double page containing information on the topic, an illustration and a number of discussion questions or practical activities. The Guides also contain a number of Bible studies designed for group learning and discussion.
ROOTS publications aim to help Christian development organisations in their work. They provide detailed information on relevant topics. They are designed to help staff study and use them together. The books contain numerous case studies of Tearfund partner organisations. Reflection questions are used throughout the books to help readers relate the information to their own situation. The books contain Bible studies to help Christian organisations to carry out their work according to biblical values.
