Where we were before this tool was used
Home trying to nurse and treat the accident.
Where the tool came from
From my late mother's life history.
How the tool was implemented
My mother who passed away at the age of 39 years old in 2003 was poisoned from her organization (National Union of Women with Disabilities in Uganda) and later died in hospital. She got an accident when i was 9 years old and injured her spinal tail. From there on she became disabled. By then her and my dad who still lived had separated and i and my mother together with my young sister had to live by ourselves. In mind we knew we would not make it despite the fact that mother was not disabled and not in the ability to provide us with what we needed such as education, food, shelter and clothing. But i and my mother came to realize that her disability was not our inability.
The outcome of using this tool
We were all educated, i graduated in the University of Dar es Salaam in Computer Engineering and my sister is now joining high school. She built us a house before she passed away.
What we learned
Disability is not Inability, The struggle still continues.
