Convener's Comment

My limited experience of Christian projects working in Kenya and India highlights that linking health projects to local Christian Churches can be very fruitful. Church leaders and members catch a heartfelt passion to participate in community-based health care. They can overcome the tendancy to give priority to church members.

Para-church organisations (for example national arms of the international Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship) motivate Christian Health Workers in living out their vocations. This is especially relevant where health workers operate in isolated locations and may be tempted to abandon community-based approaches.

Please submit experiences from your Christian Organisation in the field of supporting community-based health care - either as short comments under the discussion forum, or as longer accounts under 'Members' Experiences'.
